25 Positive Business Affirmations & Other Tips for Success

person writing in a journal - to represent positive business affirmations

Being a business owner is hard, whether you’re in the beginning phases or a decade in. My copywriting business has been a rollercoaster ride dealing with imposter syndrome, struggling to know my worth, and meeting income goals. Positive business affirmations have been a game-changer in improving my mindset and working towards my goals.

Scientists report that regularly practicing positive affirmations supports long-lasting changes to how you think and feel. And when you feel good about business, money, goals, and your worth, success is inevitable.

In this article, I’m sharing positive affirmations for business to help you work towards and reach your goals. I also share helpful tips for using your affirmations.

What are affirmations?

Affirmations are positive statements you tell yourself that challenge negative thinking and improve your thought process. Because of neuroplasticity–the brain’s ability to change–you can rewire how your brain thinks.

When you use positive affirmations, you change your subconscious thoughts to improve how you think and feel. In turn, you’ll be more motivated to work towards your goals and attract the success you hope for.

Why are affirmations important in business?

Positive affirmations are important in business because they help you overcome challenges and work towards goals for success.

A recent study examined the brain activity of those practicing self-affirmation. It found that positive self-talk activates neural processes associated with self-related processing and reward. In other words, affirmations lead to feelings of self-competence and a desire to succeed.

How often have you thought you weren’t good enough to run your own business? Or that other people can do it better than you? More than likely, this takes away your motivation to work towards success.

Changing your thought process and affirming to yourself, “I’m worthy of success, and I’m good at helping others,” helps your brain understand and accept that you can do this. As a result, you’re ready to take action to achieve your goals.

Help your brain understand and accept what you want for yourself with positive affirmations

My business helps others, and it helps me.

Don’t forget there’s a reason you started your business. You wanted to help others, and you wanted to help yourself. Don’t lose sight of this, no matter how challenging things get.

For me, I want to help people grow their businesses while also creating a life I love. Remembering this helps me overcome the negativity.

I deserve to be financially comfortable.

It wasn’t until recently I felt worthy of financial success. Our deep-rooted beliefs can get in the way of reaching goals. But everyone deserves to be financially comfortable, no matter their background or societal norms.

I’ll make every effort to succeed, and the reward will be worth it.

Running a business is exhausting. And it can be difficult to balance business and personal priorities.

Identify your business goals and what you need to do to reach them. Then, prioritize time for those tasks, even if that means sacrificing Netflix binge-watching and sleeping in late.

I can’t run on empty, so it’s okay to rest.

Rest is just as important as business tasks. Notice the difference between feeling lazy, and you’re body craving rest.

A Harvard Business Review study found that entrepreneurs who sleep more see better results in their businesses. Aim for 6-8 hours of sleep per night and take 1-2 days off work per week.

I let go of negative beliefs to make room for success.

Positive business affirmations help you change the narrative of negative thinking.

For a long time, I didn’t think a person like me would ever feel abundant. I lived on minimal income with minimal opportunities for most of my life. When I forced myself to stop thinking this way, I started finding more work opportunities and earning more.

I sell _ because I believe in _.

There’s a reason you decided to start selling your offer. Remind yourself of this often to stay on track.

Thomas Edison had many failed attempts at making the light bulb work, but he knew he was onto something, so he didn’t give up. He ended up acquiring 1,093 patents in his lifetime.

Bumps on the road make my ride more interesting.

In twenty years, you’ll feel more accomplished if you overcome a few bumps than you would if the journey was easy. Take a lesson away from each hurdle and keep moving forward.

I messed up, but now I’ve learned something new.

I’ve questioned and pivoted more in my business than I can count. Sometimes I read content I wrote years ago and laugh at how bad it was. But with all the practice and mess-ups, I’m now an excellent writer who helps other people meet their goals with my words.

My success is up to me.

One reason you probably started your own business is because you wanted to call the shots. When you have an entire business in your hands, the sky’s the limit.

When things don’t work as you hope, don’t let that stop you. Oprah Winfrey was fired from her first job and had several failed investments before becoming the wealthiest Black woman in the world.

Hustle hard, but find a balance.

Hustling doesn’t mean burning out. It means taking care of personal needs enough to give your business goals your all.

One of my favorite books for business owners is The ONE Thing by Gary Keller. In the book, he discusses how work-life balance isn’t what many think it should be.

You can’t achieve big success if you’re not putting 100% in. And you can’t put in 100% if you’re trying to balance multiple priorities.

Instead, he talks about working hard at business for a time and prioritizing personal life for a time. For example, if you have big goals for your business success, you might spend the majority of your weekdays focusing on these. Then, you can spend a small portion of each day and the weekends resting and taking care of your personal needs.

It’s a brand new day to work towards my goals.

Every day can’t go as planned. If yesterday wasn’t your best, don’t take it into today. Start every new day fresh by identifying your goals and having your to-do list ready.

I have a purpose of sharing with others.

Feeling unmotivated? Remember, you have knowledge and skills that others don’t. Share it with others.

I’m a hard worker who deserves to be successful.

No matter your flaws or challenges, you deserve success. We all do. Work hard to achieve it.

Find yourself feeling unworthy? Practice these positive business affirmations regularly to rewrite that story.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Some days are a flop because life is made of ebs and flows. If today doesn’t go as planned, that’s okay. Tomorrow’s a new day.

Relaxing is okay because I can’t chase success if I’m burnt out.

Burnout is a medical disorder that leads to loss of motivation and emotional drain. Research shows this can slow or halt professional growth.

Prevent the negative effects of burnout by prioritizing relaxation. Schedule time away from your work in ways that work best for you.

For example, I rest my body and brain by spending at least one day per week offline, spending time outdoors every day, and leaving my phone across the room at bedtime.

I am enough.

You’re uniquely you, and that’s enough.

If I help one person, I’m doing something valuable.

We can’t help everyone because everyone doesn’t need our help. As a website copywriter, there are a lot of people doing what I do. You probably have competition too.

But if one person connects with YOU and lets you help them, you’re doing something valuable.

If they can do it, so can I.

With so many people in the business owning space and sharing their successes, it can feel discouraging to see other people making more sales money than we are.

Remember, we usually share the highlights, not the downfalls. And if they can do it, so can you.

Write your own story.

I messed up because I’m human.

Messing up in business (and in life) is inevitable. Beat yourself up, or use mistakes as lessons to improve.

I’m proud of myself.

Every accomplishment you make, big or small, acknowledge that you’re proud of yourself. Be your biggest cheerleader.

Meeting any goal is worth celebrating, no matter how big or small.

Going back to how positive affirmations rewire the brain. When you celebrate all goals, your nervous system becomes used to success and seeks it out more.

I’ve fallen, but I can get back up.

Falling hurts. But it doesn’t mean you can’t get back up and achieve success.

Walt Disney fell a lot before Disney became what it is. His first cartoon business failed, he had a nervous breakdown after creating Mickey Mouse, and his animators once went on strike. All this before Disney went on to grow a business worth more than $100B.

My business can be what I want it to be.

With millions of people starting new businesses each year, there’s a lot of noise about the wrong and right ways to run a business. But the biggest perk of being a business owner is creating YOUR dream.

Your business can be what you want it to be, but this can be easy to forget. What works for one business owner isn’t right for another. Remind yourself daily.

Honestly, I’m killin’ it.

The sole fact that you’re reading this means you’re doing your best and killin’ it.

How to Get Away From Negative Thinking

Other Tips For Sticking With Positive Business Affirmations

Studies show positive thinking improves coping skills and decreases stress. Boost your chances of staying positive and succeeding in business by:

  • Surrounding yourself with positive people - Attitude is contagious, and we pick up the vibes of those around us.

  • Redirecting negative thoughts - Negative thinking is natural, so accept these thoughts, then replace them with positive ones.

  • Talking about your negative thoughts - Shifting your thoughts is helpful, but if negative thoughts are recurring, talk about them with someone you trust. This can help you understand and resolve what’s causing them.

  • Writing positive affirmations down - Take time to write positive affirmations, which lets you see them from a different perspective than when you think them.

  • Reading positive, motivational books - Take time to learn, relax, and improve your mindset by reading positive books.

  • Doing something you enjoy every day - When we’re doing enjoyable activities, we’re likely to think good thoughts.

I’ve tried all of these and have found that implementing one or a few of these in my daily life changes how I feel in all areas.
