“Blogging is dead.” “Do people still read blogs?” We’ve all heard these comments — but here’s the truth: blogging is very much alive, and it’s one of the most effective marketing tools for small business owners, e-commerce brands, large companies, and creators alike.

As an SEO Writer and Consultant, I write blogs almost every day. Even in 2025, I see how blogging can drive website traffic, build trust with your audience, and generate leads.

I recently shared polls on LinkedIn and Threads asking if people still read blogs. Out of 110 respondents, the majority said they often read or skim blog articles.

As you can see below, my website traffic increased 269% over the last year compared to the previous year. Most of my website traffic is directed to my blog, which helps generate inbound leads, new clients, and new email subscribers.

  • In-depth information - Blogs allow you to thoroughly discuss a topic in a way that short-form content or social posts can’t. Readers often want detailed explanations, step-by-step guides, or case studies that help them fully understand a topic.

  • Problem-solving support - People often turn to blogs for solutions to specific challenges. Whether it’s learning how to improve a skill, fix an issue, or learn about a product or service, blogs can offer practical advice and actionable steps.

  • Niche content - Blogs can reach specific audiences with focused interests. Niche blogs (e.g., fashion, skincare, travel, etc.) allow readers to find highly relevant long-form content. Writing for your niche is one of the best ways to stand out against competitors and build authority.  

  • Entertainment and news - Some blog readers like interesting stories, personal experiences, and timely updates on topics they care about. Blogs can combine storytelling with useful insights, keeping readers entertained while also informing them about trends, product launches, or industry developments.

There are several ways your audience might consume your content: 

  • Scanning for information - Many readers skim articles to quickly find main points or specific answers.

  • Repurposed content on other platforms - You can also share blog content via social media, email newsletters, YouTube, or Pinterest.

  • AI and language models, like ChatGPT - Summaries and overviews from AI tools frequently pull from blog content.

  • Search engine visibility - Even if readers only briefly interact with your articles, clicks or partial reads, help your content appear in search results and attract more readers over time.

  • Social media platforms - Share your articles on Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn to drive traffic and engagement. Create posts with a summary of the content and link to your article for those who want more.
